Baseball 1st Birthday Party Planning Tips
Planning a baseball 1st birthday party was the perfect way to celebrate our little MVP turning one. We leaned into a fun Rookie of the Year theme, bringing in all the classic ballpark details like concession stand snacks, baseball decorations, and plenty of space for kids to run around and play.
Since our son’s birthday falls in June, hosting the party outside made it feel even more like a real game day celebration. If you’re planning a baseball-themed first birthday, these ideas will help you create a party that truly hits it out of the park.

Baseball Birthday Party Decorations
Since our baby boy’s birthday is in June, hosting his baseball birthday party outside was an easy choice. Our backyard became the main party space, and we set up a couple of extra tents to keep guests comfortable in the summer heat. One tent held the food setup while the other created a shaded seating area for guests to relax between all the fun.
A balloon arch instantly makes a party space feel festive, and it was the perfect backdrop for our baseball-themed celebration. This was actually the first balloon arch I had ever made, and I was surprised at how easy the kit was to assemble. If you’re hosting a baseball birthday party, a balloon arch is a simple way to make the decorations feel extra special. You can find easy kits here on Amazon.

DIY Yankee Stadium Entrance Decorations
Creating a fun entrance for a party really helps set the tone before guests even walk into the main celebration. Since our front foyer has high ceilings, it ended up being the perfect place to recreate the iconic Yankee Stadium arches for our Rookie of the Year birthday theme.
I purchased the arch cut files from the Etsy shop Vector911 and used them to create the stadium entrance look on our wall. It definitely took some planning and a little puzzle-like assembly to get everything lined up, but the final result was completely worth it.

To complete the stadium feel, we added a baseball photo backdrop nearby so guests could stop and take pictures as they arrived. It ended up being such a fun moment at the party, and everyone loved snapping photos before heading outside to the backyard celebration.

Baseball Birthday Party Favor Ideas
These were easily one of my favorite details from the party. I made the baseball cap favor boxes out of cardstock, and while they definitely took some time to assemble, seeing my guests’ reactions made all the effort worth it.

purchased the cut file from the Etsy shop Tailored Vectors, and it came with clear assembly instructions which made the process much easier. To make the favors feel even more special, I customized the hats with different designs. Some featured the Yankees logo, others had the number 1, and a few simply said “One.”
The final touch was adding each child’s name to the sticker on the brim of the hat, which made the favor boxes feel extra personalized.
Inside each box I included a few fun baseball-themed favors for the kids to take home:

Rookie of the Year Birthday Shirts
I love making my family wear matching tee shirts. I just think it adds such a cute touch to the party. These were easy to make. I bought the files from EMGraphix; they made the perfect tee shirts for us.
Vintage Baseball Decorations Using Family Memorabilia

To bring in even more vintage baseball elements, we added a few special touches to the decorations. My husband’s cousin knew a high school baseball coach who gave us a bucket of used baseballs, which turned out to be the perfect authentic decor.
I also dug out some of my husband’s old baseball trophies and scattered them around the party setup. Those personal pieces made the decorations feel even more meaningful and added a fun nostalgic touch to the celebration.

Baseball Birthday Party Concession Stand Ideas
For the food at our baseball birthday party, we wanted to keep everything true to classic ballpark style. A concession stand setup felt like the perfect fit for our Rookie of the Year theme and made the whole party feel like a real game day.
One of the highlights was a retro-style popcorn machine, which we purchased from Amazon and have actually used many times since for our outdoor movie nights. Fresh popcorn instantly makes a party feel like a stadium experience. Just don’t forget to grab popcorn kernels and popping oil so everything is ready to go. We borrowed a hotdog tabletop cart from a friend. We also had Pretzels from Philly Pretzel Factory, pulled pork sliders, and sides. Cracker Jacks were a must to have on the table as well. Amazon sells a case of 24 boxes, click here to find them.

One of my favorite DIY details was the pretzel wall my husband built using 2x4s and wood dowels. It turned into such a fun display and made it easy for guests to grab a pretzel as they walked by. I set out cheese sauce, mustard, and cinnamon butter so everyone could customize their pretzel however they liked.

The signs were the easiet thing I crafted for the party. Using Canva (if dont have Canva but love to create you should download it now!) I made all the signs and glued them to canvas from the dollar store to make them sturdy.

Baseball Birthday Party Games & Activities
June is hot hot hot! Any party we have in the summer we set up water activities for the kids. The slip n slide is so much fun for them. Our yard has the best hill to set it up for them. To pull the baseball theme into this activty I put a sign up that said “Sliding Practice”. How cute is that!

Another cute idea was “batting practice”. We set up a child’s baseball tee and a tub full of water balloons. The kids had so much fun smacking these balloons off the tee or pitching to each other.

Baseball Birthday Party Dessert Table Ideas
I always love offering a variety of desserts at a party instead of just serving birthday cake. It’s a fun way to get creative with the theme and gives guests a few different sweet options to enjoy.
For our baseball birthday party dessert table, we served:
• Baseball cupcakes
• A baseball smash cake
• Chocolate-covered Oreos
• A fresh fruit platter (I always like to include fruit with dessert)

The cupcakes and smash cake were made by my incredibly talented mother. She created the adorable baseball toppers by shaping white chocolate into baseballs and then drawing the seams with an edible red marker. They turned out so cute and tied perfectly into our Rookie of the Year theme.

I loved having these vintage-looking printouts. They were the patent plans for a baseball, a glove, and a baseball bat. You can purchase these digital files from Etsy here, and then print them out at home or send them to be printed at a store like Staples.
